When the people from Sanbox asked if I wanted to try the Kombu butter from Spread with Syle, my initial thought was.. Kombu, what?

As always, Google to my rescue.

Kombu (pronounced KOM-boo) is an edible sea vegetable. Hailing from Japan, it's most historically used as one of the three main ingredients in 'dashi' noodle broth as a flavor enhancer (and can pretty much be used in most broths for the same benefit). It can be found dried (which is how it's used in broths), pickled in vinegar, or eaten fresh.

And apparently, there are tons of benefits when you include Kombu into your diet, read this article from Dr. Axe HERE.

So now this got me curious, I love Japanese food and butter,,, guess putting them together will be interesting. So I said yes! Thank you, Ms. Mandy, for sending me your lovely Kombu butter to try.

Locally made in Singapore. Spread with style kombu butter is handcrafted by the couple, Gerard & Mandy, since 2018. Having been in the F&B industry for several years.

Their scrumptious kombu butter is derived from a union of two countries, Japan and France. Kombu originates from Japan.

So, when I received the tub of spread with style Kombu butter, I have to think of how I could use it aside from just spreading it on a piece of bread and toast it. Decided to put my not so good culinary skills to the test, you guys know I wake up at 5am for work and haven't been cooking as often as I used to. I will share with you how I used the spread with style Kombu butter with minimal effort. 😂😂

I had to try it with the bread, of course, I spread it on a bun and toasted it so I could get a taste of the butter on its own before I experiment it on other things haha haha.

I love how creamy it was, and the Kombu is not overpowering; it has this mild nutty sweetness into it, I could see myself eating tons of buns with this spread on it. Lucky me, I only had 3 pcs of buns, so I had to stop myself.

I usually do my video editing for my YouTube channel or writing my blog posts on Friday nights. And you guessed it I need to have something to eat so that the inspiration will get flowing, hahaha. I tried to put cheese on top of the toasted bun with spread with style Kombu butter, and the combination was perfect, the saltiness from the cheese and creamy sweet nutty from the butter..haiz! I am salivating now.

I don't have time to cook dinner, and usually, I am just eating by myself when Hubbyness is working the night shift at Jollibee. I decided to put it on my tomato soup, you know those canned tomato soups have this over tangy taste, and if I put some butter, it will make it creamy and will lessen the tanginess of the soup. Well, I am right! Not only did the spread with style Kombu butter gave it the creaminess that I am looking for, but it added sweet and nutty flavor to it..mind you it didn't make it seaweedy (if this is even a term).

Did I mention that Hubbyness works at Jollibee? One of the perks you might say is that he gets to bring home Jollibee chicken joy 😍 most of the time. ( and Yes! I don't get tired of eating chicken joy and their spaghetti). Being a Filipino, I love my rice and grew up eating rice with margarine, specifically Star margarine. So I added the spread with style Kombu butter with the rice put it on the microwave for 30 seconds and kaboom! Buttered rice, this version is the adult version of the rice that I grew up eating, again loved the flavor that it gave the rice. And it went well with the chicken, now I want to make chicken rice from spread with style Kombu butter.

This is the most work of all the food that I tried to make with the spread with style Kombu butter. I made pasta with tuna. I am a saucy type of pasta person, but having tried it with bread, soup, and rice made me a little adventurous 😂 , and it didn't disappoint. Kombu being a seaweed it will pair well with seafood, right? Ms. Mandy did suggest that I used it with shrimp and pasta, but since I don't have it, I decided to do the next thing I have, which is canned tuna.

I sauteed the tuna and Spread with style Kombu butter added a few green bell peppers and tossed in my pasta, and I had my dinner. I was pleasantly surprised that I thought it will be dry. It was creamy, and again the Kombu butter flavor was not overpowering, I did put about 2 tablespoons. And it went well with the tuna. Oh, I did add salt and pepper.

And yes, with most experiments, there will be fails, hahaha. I did try to put it on a Japanese noodle that I bought from Don Don Donki, and it didn't work out well, and it's my fault I shouldn't have put the seasonings that came with the packet. The seasoning overpowered the spread with style Kombu butter; it made it creamy, though.

They do recommend storing the opened tub in a chiller and is best consumed within 3 weeks of opening, but trust me, 1 tub will not even last you a week 😂😂😂.

After all the experiments, Spread with style Kombu butter get a 5-star Happy Tummy from us, Hubbyness was able to try the pasta with tuna, and he liked it too, not because I cooked it.

Spread with style Kombu butter is versatile; you could use it on almost anything, and if you checked their Facebook page and Instagram, they share on ways that you could use it too, toink! On me that I only looked on their social media accounts while I am writing this review, it never occurred to me to put it on a steak!!!! How could I not have thought of that...me being a carnivore!!!

I love how creamy, sweet, and nutty it is, and it does not taste seaweedy at all. The spread with style Kombu butter sells for $12.00 sgd per 120g tub.

And the question is, will I purchase a tub for myself? YES! after doing all those tests with good results and discovered other ways I could use it, and school break is just around the corner, I have time to cook, diet goes out of the window.

Hi Belles!! Finally, I am back into blogging, I promise! And what better way to make a comeback is by doing a Happy tummy adventure post.

Every Wednesday is our date night since it's hubbyness off-day, this week I wanted to let him rest and sleep a bit more since he only gets 1 day off in a week.

And so happy that Overly Cheezy sent over some of their items for us to test out. (Thank you!)

If you like cheese like I do, you will be excited about this new kid on the block on the pizza delivery industry here in Singapore.

Their story started with, you guessed it! With their deep appreciation of cheese. They started experimenting in the kitchen, collaborating with expert chefs from Japan, Italy, France, and of course, Singapore.

And tadah!! The result is a fusion of Japenese, Italian, and French with a local twist 😍.

And what intrigues me is how they have two different pizza doughs, the creamy tomato, and the creamy avocado dough. Both have 5 different kinds of cheese blended into the crust - mozzarella, gruyere, cheddar orange, parmesan, and Emmental. My mouth is already watering as I am writing this 😅.

This is what go me! They have a puff pastry pizza base!!!

Guess I've rambled enough as always. Let's talk about what we have chosen.

We had to try one of their best sellers TRUFFLICIOUS HAWAIIAN in a Pate Feuilletee Crust (puff pastry); its made with their signature creamy white truffle sauce, chicken ham, juicy pineapple, and parsley flakes.

Let me tell you!! I finished the pizza by myself, Ok! I did give a piece to hubbyness to let him try, but I turned into Joey of Friends, I want these all to myself and am not willing to share. It was cheezy goodness, the puff pastry was flaky and light.

Next up is the Dancing Katsoubushi & Beef in a Milky Avocado Crust. It's made with homemade sweet teriyaki sauce, mayonnaise, Japanese styles marinated beef, katsuobushi (bonito flakes), stripped seaweed, and parsley flakes.

I should have tried this 1st so that I won't have a bias over the puff pastry crust—my fault. The thin crust has a nice crunch into it. You won't get overwhelmed by a massive piece of bread at the end of each slice.

It is cheesy but not over-powering if you are not a big fan of cheese, this will be perfect for you.

And yes! Hubby had my housemates shared this pizza. And they did like it. Not sure if other pizza houses have something similar,

We also had 2 side dishes, 1st is the Cheezy Salted Egg Fries, I enjoyed the fries by itself, it was flavourful on its own that I didn't even dip it into the cheese sauce. It was golden brown with a crunchy exterior but light and fluffy inside.

Next up is their 6 pcs. Chicken wings, ok for this I had to ask hubby for we can call him an expert in fried chicken for you guys know he currently works in Jollibee. He did say that he liked the flavour of the wings. It was not salty, which usually happens when the meat is over marinated. It was crispy in the inside and juicy in the inside ( this sounds like a KFC commercial 😂😂). And the most crucial part was the chicken was not oily.

And we ALWAYS leave room for desserts!!! The Belgium Chocolate Lava Cake was sweet and chocolatey creamy (sorry for the pic, it was my fault for not taking it out from the box carefully). The Hokkaido Matcha Lava Cake was ok not a big fan of Matcha, but hubbyness liked it for it was not too sweet.

So was, is our verdict on the Overly Cheezy Pizza?

Both of their pizzas were flavourful and true to their claim, it is overly loaded with cheese, I know this is subjective to an individual but if you are a die-hard fan of cheese go for their puff pastry crust. If you are the so-so cheese lover, then you will be better going for either their Creamy Tomato Crust or Milky Avocado Crust.

Will we order from them? Yes, firstly, I am in love with their puff pastry crust, and I can only imagine how good it will be if I got their Fruity Fruity Hawaiian Pizza and if I was to go really over, I'll try their Cheezy Cannonballs Pizza.

As for the sides and dessert, it was good, but I am not head over heels about it. If you are sharing the pizzas with a group of 3-5 people, then it's a good idea to order so you could have a variety of dishes. Having said that, I will definitely order their Belgium Chocolate Lava Cake.

Going through the Overly Cheezy Pizza menu, one might assume that it comes with a high price tag, but let me tell you it doesn't. You can check their list HERE.

Here it goes!!! I can do this hahaha. If you guys have been following me on social media it wouldn't surprise you that I love ice cream as in it goes way back since I was a small (yes, I was small once) Ice cream is my comfort food just ask my Tita and Tito, it's something that will always put a smile on my face.

Growing up in Sampaloc, Manila I will wait for Manong Sorbetero in the afternoon to get my almost daily ice cream fix, so now you know all my bubbliness and positivity is fueled by ice cream from such an early age hahahahahha.

And the other Ice Cream I grew up loving, is Magnolia Ice Cream, above is the old Magnolia House in Aurora Blvd, this place gives me so much memory that I was even hesitant to write about it for I might be crying while writing haha haha. We usually go here after our Sunday mass at Our Lady of Mt Carmel (yup, the Church that I got hitched), and frankly, that is the reason why my parents can drag me out of the house to go to Church for I know we will get some ice cream after hearing mass.

Now it's been replaced by Robinson's Magnolia Condominium 😭

And every time I will get my favorite, Banana Split 😍.

When it comes to ice cream Magnolia has been a household name and has always been part of family and friends gatherings at home.

So when a friend of Good Food Cravings asked me if I want to help in their Pop Up Store...of course, I said "Hell Yah!!!"

Hold on...a disclaimer, some might say I am biased hahahaha ok a little bit but since I've been staying in Singapore I've been eating Hagendaaz and Ben N Jerry's ice cream for the past 18 years 😂 so please don't judge me if this post is emotionally driven.

Good Food Cravings has opened their 1st ever pop up store in Lucky Plaza 04-01A to sell the ever famous Filipino ice cream Magnolia Gold Label Series (when exported out of the Philippines they carry the name San Miguel Gold Label, more info HERE)

They were able to bring flavors to Singapore. All time favorites Mango, Ube, Ube Keso/Cheese, Macapuno Ube and 3 new flavors Mango Dark Chocolate, Mango Salted Caramel and Avocado Macchiato which FYI Singapore is the 1st to carry outside the Philippines 🤗.

Helping them these past few days made me connect again with the Filipino community I've been the only Filipino in my workplace for 10 years, and yes I miss speaking in Tagalog and another yes I miss working in the retail industry, well not enough though that I would come back 😍😂.

We are opened during Sundays which is also the off day of most of the FDW, I loved talking to them and listening to their stories.

These group of ladies decided to share a tub of ice cream, they ate it in the shop and I was happily watching them enjoy it. They only see each other during their off day so they make the most of it and one of them was asked by her boss to buy 2 tubs of ice cream to bring home.

This lady is awesome, she came to the shop and asked if we sell the ice cream in pints which we don't, she did say that she can't finish it all by herself. She went out and I actually heard her asking $2 from her friends if they want to eat ice cream, at first I thought she was joking, a few minutes later she came back and bought a tub to share among her friends who contributed. I did tell her that she could actually just collect $1, in which she replied not all of them can afford to even spare $1, so she and her friends decided to share it among all her church mates. Such a resourceful and big-hearted lady, and oh she did collect more than she needed, she will be back next week to buy another tub to share with them.

I thought that only Filipinos will be buying, but to my surprise, we have local customers too 😱, either they got to taste it during their visit to the Philippines, or their helper brought it back during her vacation, it was really heartwarming knowing that they love it.
